In the palace of Yogyakarta, there is a dance that is used if there are guests who come, the dance is used as an honor. This dance is known as Golek Ayun-Ayun.

This dance, which is rooted in the culture of the Yogyakarta palace, has been carried out for generations. Just like in Surakarta, the bedhaya dance is a welcome greeting to guests.

This Golek Ayun-Ayun dance was first created by KRT Sasmintadipura in 1976. This dance tells of a girl who grows up with the pleasure of making up.

Usually, this dance is performed by two dancers up to eight dancers even in groups. And the history of the ayun-ayun golek dance was born outside the palace walls, namely among singers.

The name of the ayun-ayun golek dance is taken from the song Landrang Ayun-ayun which is usually performed to welcome special guests.
